Jason Kreis' 100 Goals

On Saturday, Aug. 13, Real Salt Lake forward and captain Jason Kreis became the first-ever Major League Soccer player to break the 100 career-goal threshold, scoring in the 72nd-minute in Real Salt Lake's 4-2 home loss to the Kansas City Wizards.

Here are some facts about Kreis' century of goals:

  • In addition to ranking #1 all-time in both goals (100) and game-winners (30), Kreis ranks among the best in several MLS offensive categories, including: assists (10th, with 68); game-winning assists (9th, with 19); games played (4th, with 268); games started (4th, with 248); minutes played (4th, with 22,180); shots (2nd, with 744); shots on goal (1st, with 343); fouls committed (4th, with 386) and fouls suffered (9th, with 390); and offside (9th, with 143)

  • Only career hat trick came on 3/20/99 in 4-0 win vs. Kansas City Wizards, as Kreis scored three second-half goals in the 55th, 80th and 84th minutes while also assisting on Mickey Trotman's game-winner in the 53rd minute

  • Owns 10 other multi-goal games, including the first-ever and only to date in RSL history on 4/30/05 in 2-2 draw with SJ - the others: 5/18/96 (W, 3-2) vs. DC; 7/17/96 (W, 5-2) vs. LA; 8/31/97 (W, 4-1) vs. COL; 4/18/99 (W, 2-1) vs. TB; 6/5/99 (W, 5-2) @ MET; 7/10/99 (W, 5-0) vs. KC; 10/3/99 (W, 4-3) vs. LA; 5/27/00 (L, 2-3) @ DC; 6/15/02 (W, 3-1) @ CHI

  • Leads all-time MLS players in career game-winning with 30 in 267 games, including the winning tally in both of RSL's come-from-behind victories, 2-1 home wins vs. LA on 5/14/05 and vs. CHV on 8/06/05

  • Kreis' 11 multi-goal games represent the 4th-highest total in MLS history; also owns 4 goals in 22 playoff games from 1996-2002 with the Dallas Burn, as well as two All-Star goals (1996, 2002)
