Crew Juniors Coaching Staff

Mike Lapper
Columbus Crew Assistant Coach

Former Crew defender Mike Lapper has been working with the club since his retirement in 2002 and he has seen his coaching duties expanded over the last two seasons.

The former U.S. World Cup and Olympic Team veteran earned his USSF “A” coaching license in January 2006 and will assist with daily practices, help develop the Crew’s youth academy program, scout and run open tryouts.

As Director of Soccer Business Development, Lapper oversees the Crew’s camp and clinic business.

In addition to his Crew coaching duties, Lapper was also an assistant coach with the U.S. Under-20 National Team which competed at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in Holland, under current Crew head coach Sigi Schmid.

Lapper and his wife, Tara, welcomed their first child, Kyle, on Feb. 9, 2005.
