Soccer '94

Formed in 1990 as a non-profit sports organization to bid for and later act as the host committee for the 1994 World Cup games in Washington, D.C., Soccer '94 keeps the spirit of the 1994 World Cup games that took place in the United States alive.

Mission

More important than a winning record, a successful athletic program helps youngsters develop self-confidence, discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork - qualities that help them succeed on and off the field. Developing these attributes through soccer is the goal of Soccer '94.

Objectives

World Cup 1994
  1. To promote the development and growth of youth soccer in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia
  2. To encourage and support local, inner city soccer programs for economically or socially disadvantaged youth

Soccer '94 Grant Program

Following the successful completion of its role as the Washington, D.C. World Cup Host Committee, Soccer '94 developed a grant program for youth soccer activities in the metropolitan area. These activities have ranged from installing goals and lining fields to procuring equipment and providing event management expertise.
