New United for D.C. reading corner opens

United for D.C. celebrated the opening of its third reading corner at Unity Health Clinic in northwest DC on Wednesday August 6, 2008, with a visit from D.C. United's Fred and Gonzalo Peralta. Children, adults and Unity staff were ready and excited Wednesday as Fred and Peralta read to the kids, signed autographs, took pictures and distributed hundreds of new books to the children and clinic. Families and staff had a great time interacting with the players and utilizing the new addition. The new corners are located in two waiting areas to help keep children entertained as well as continue the emphasis on early reading in youth development.   View photo gallery »
